IN MEMORIAM
Patrick Rudy (1976-2010)

On May 28, the NABA family lost a dedicated member when Patrick Rudy was killed in a car accident. Patrick was the president of the NABA Gallatin Valley League in Montana since 2007, and had played in the league since 2005 as a member of the Park County Cubs. A huge Cincinnati Reds fan, Patrick played first base, third base, pitcher and catcher for the Cubs. Patrick, who worked as a mechanic, also excelled at playing guitar and enjoyed billiards and golf. At Patrick's funeral, his teammates stood in two rows and raised baseball bats overhead as his casket was carried to the grave site. All players in the league are now wearing patches in his honor, with his name and the motto: Rudy Up! There also are plans for a memorial tournament at the end of the season. Patrick's partner, Jody Eggar, has helped keep the league running as a tribute to him. "Mind you, I know nothing about baseball other than the man I loved was very passionate for it," Eggar said. "He truely loved the game with all his heart. "In fact, the only time I truely find peace is w hen I'm out on the field watching the men play and helping them run this league. Being able to step into his shoes is my honor, and I hope to continue to do whatever I can to keep (the league) going."
